| Brothers of Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity. | A
foursome of fourth-year students from the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity are spending
36 hours in "rocking chairs'' outside the University Community Centre building
to raise awareness and $15,000 for breast cancer research. October is breast
cancer awareness month in Canada. Josh Gleicher, Adam Fox, Sean Jusko-Konkol and
Daniel Warner, the fraternity's president, began their fundraising efforts at
8 a.m. yesterday (Oct. 18). Bundled in warm clothes and sitting in easy chairs
about ready for the junk yard, the frat brothers planned to spend the night and
today outside the UCC building, finishing their rocking at 8 p.m. today. The
men, all in their 20s, decided to participate out of loyalty to their fraternity
and because they have all been affected by cancer. "It's really important to me,''
Warner said. "Both sides of my family (have) cancer victims. It's something I've
wanted to do since my first year.'' Jusko-Konkol was dressed in a Montreal Canadiens
tuque and covered in a Habs' blanket. Not only was he camping out for the
fraternity but for his best friend who died when he was in elementary school.
"Cancer affects all of us,'' Jusko-Konkol said. Anyone wishing to donate
on behalf of the frat brothers may call the Canadian Cancer Society at 519-432-1137.
