BACKGROUND
The idea for this conference stems from a Presidents’ Round Table held by our IFC in March, 1998. During that time, the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity was in the process of colonizing at the University of Alberta. One of the Expansion Consultants made some comments on the state of the Greek system at the University of Alberta. Many of his comments were based on a strictly American point of view. There was a need for us, as members of Canadian Chapters to develop a network system of our own, like those found in the different regions of the United States. And so came into being the 1st Annual Canadian InterGreek Conference.

You do not have to be Greek to come: it is an opportunity to find out more about the Greek system in Canada! It is also open to both undergraduate and alumni. There will be both combined and seperate sessions for undergraduate and alumni.

LOCATION
The University of Alberta will be the site of the first Greek Conference for Canadian Chapters. Home of the Golden Bears and Pandas, this campus has a strong Greek presence with 15 men’s and women’s Fraternities.

FOCUS
The goal of the conference is to develop a stronger fraternity system within Canada, and strengthen bonds between the different campuses across Canada. Sessions will include workshops, round table discussions, and key note speakers. Some of the topics that will be touched upon include: dealing with Canadian laws under US guidelines, the growth of Fraternities/Women's Fraternities in Canada, recruitment, anti-hazing, leadership, philanthropic projects, and altruism.
