About Kitchener-Waterloo

Wilfrid Laurier University is located in the city of Waterloo, in the province of Ontario, Canada.  The twin cities of Kitchener-Waterloo with a combined population of over 270,000, lie in the prosperous rural and urban area known as the Regional Municipality of Waterloo.

Waterloo is located some 112 km west of Toronto, 104 km northeast of London, 128 km northwest of Niagara Falls, and 65 km northwest of Hamilton. Waterloo is easily reached by Highways 7, 8 and 86, and by the four-lane Highway 401 which connects Montreal and Windsor and which passes within about 16 km of the Wilfrid Laurier University campus.

Throughout the Region of Waterloo, a rich local history, a vigorous industry and a high quality of life are readily apparent. Musical and theatrical performances, art exhibitions, film screenings and sports activities are among the many cultural and recreational events which will interest the student. The Shakespearean Theatre at Stratford is only 48 km from the campus. A neighbouring university, the University of Waterloo, is located less than two km from the Wilfrid Laurier University campus. 

 

Directions to Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University

To reach Laurier from Highway 401, take exit 278B (coming from London) or 278 (coming from Toronto) and follow Highway 8 West to Highway 86 North - Waterloo and continue to University Avenue; follow University Avenue West to campus. Distance from Highway 401 to campus is approximately 16 km.

Laurier is easily reached using Greyhound Canada and Via Rail into Kitchener, then Kitchener Transit bus to campus.
